Speaking of Boston, what's the name of that restaurant that's been around since sometime around the Revolution? They've got long wooden tables, and pretty much classic New England food -- beans, ham, cornbread, potatoes, stuff like that -- and really rude waitresses. I've been there a bunch of times, and can't remember the name, and this discussion of Boston restaurants reminded me of it, and now I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to google that.
Durgin Park. It, or the Union Oyster House would have been much more old Boston for Sunil (and easy to get to for 'fraidy cat woman on her own).
What and where is this Shabu Zen?
The one on Tyler St. It's in Chinatown.
Yep, it was Durgin Park.
I'm looking at flights for Madison. So far, the only thing I've found in my price range leaves from Baltimore at 6 in the morning, which would pretty much leave me a zombie the entire weekend. Still looking, though.
Hil, can you fly into Chi-town and drive up? That's what I am planning to do.
me too! As soon as roommate D pays his rent I'm making hotel reservations. I've got friends driving up with me and sahring the room but they're in town to visit one's sister, not buffistae. Still maybe I can convince them to come to prom. Mojitos! Corsets!
Chicago or Milwaukee are reasonable flight destinations. [ETA: Milwaukee about 65 miles, Chicago about twice that.] For people renting cars, I've gotten crazy deals from [link] - like a priceline for car rentals instead of airlines. I'm guessing that if people post their reservations as they make them, there will be carpooling opportunities abounding. If no one is arriving around you, Badger Bus [link] is also a good option.
From what's been posted here, it sounds like most of the Chicagoans will be heading out from Chicago on Thursday, but that could change as we get closer. I expect to be driving from Milwaukee on Thurs myself.
I plan to drive up Friday morning.

I'm the oddball who's driving to Michigan that weekend.
what time are we meeting on Wednesday and where?
Cindy, you could take the commuter rail to North Station and the orange line to Chinatown or Downtown Crossing. I'll ride back with you if you like so neither of us are alone for the later ride to NS.

I would like to know this too! I will be free after 5.
