You can do it in six hours. We are celebrating my birthday this coming weekend. IJS.

And if one were to fly (hypothetically), what airport would be easiest?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Speaking of Boston, what's the name of that restaurant that's been around since sometime around the Revolution? They've got long wooden tables, and pretty much classic New England food -- beans, ham, cornbread, potatoes, stuff like that -- and really rude waitresses. I've been there a bunch of times, and can't remember the name, and this discussion of Boston restaurants reminded me of it, and now I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to google that.

The DC-istas brunch yesterday was fun. There really ought to be more places like Asylum, that offer decent vegan stuff and non-vegan stuff. I know plenty of good all-vegan or all-vegetarian restaurants, and plenty of omni restaurants that have a few vegetarian or vegan dishes, but there aren't so many that really have a full menu of both like Asylum does.

Any Buffistas in San Diego or thereabouts? I might have to go there for a conference.

Burbank is the smallest airport that is convenient, and there are direct flights out of Oakland to it...Ontario is also pretty close. LAX is evil, but it's a good last resort.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I'm a few hours north of San Diego.

I've found The Happy Cow to be a useful veggie/vegan resource.

Was that for me? I was just seeing if I'd have people to have dinner with :)

Yes, and you made me feel doubly guilty for not visiting LA since, now that you mention it, I recall that ND drove down to San Diego to visit me at the MLA a few years back.

Any Buffistas in San Diego or thereabouts?

I had dinner with EpicTangent when I was there.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

EpicTangent is in San Diego.

Brunch yesterday (Good lord, was that just yesterday?) was indeed fun, and the food was good even if we waited so long for it that he heard all the songs my DH picked out on the jukebox before we ate. Excellent conversation, of course.

Afterwards, Toddson and Hil took us to Idle Time (is that right?) where we only bought a few books. As we were checking out, the cashier mentioned a problem with the store CD player that DH happened to be familiar with, so he advised him to poke some holes in the case for ventilation. The cashier said he could justify it to his boss by explaining "He had a Joss Whedon shirt on, I figured he knew what he was talking about."

We even got to spend some time with Sparky and her DH and Sass before we had to leave. Good trip! I'm sorry to have missed so many DC-istas, but I missed a lot of museums and monuments, also, so I'll need to go back.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hil, do you mean Jacob Wirth's? [link]

Not around since the revolution, but over a century, anyway.
