I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I was planning on not getting a car and using the Metro. Recs for a hotel near the Metro for not too much money would be greatly appreciated!

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

And, if you're lucky, the nut of the week won't be carrying gun, knife, bomb, etc., on Capitol Hill (ask Epic).

Actually, even this wasn't that bad, as it gave us an excuse to chat up the cute firemen. And since it apparently had nothing to do with my Jayne T-shirt. (It's a cartoon gun! Why so serious!)

unless Metro is doing major construction at a central station.

This can make the commute suck mightily. But hopefully since I took that bullet, they'll be done before you and DH get there!

I highly recommend the DCistas (even the ones who missed the party when I was there), and there's a certain Baltimore-ista well worth visiting with if schedule allows, as well.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I want some buffistas to come visit me! I'll take you to our white trash bar, Mr. Jane's bar, the cool Jazz bar, shopping at Neiman's-browsing really-and NorthPark. I'll even show you where the $30,000 millionares graze and we can laugh and point!

Yay, -t and H!

I have no hotel recommendations, but you're welcome to stay with us if you're looking to save money. We're about 1 mile (easy walk, or 1 block to a bus) from the Red Line Metro.

We may be out of town all/part of that week, and then you'd have the whole place to yourself.

DJ, my DH makes a point of going to Dallas at least once a year, but he keeps picking times when I can't join him. Maybe this year!

Our wings are not tired.

All Buffistas need to visit Mr. Jane's bar and play with Daisy. Highly recommended. Trying to think of an excuse to go to Dallas again.

I'm still the same old Delray Beach. You are welcome anytime, but I recommend winter. In the summer you can visit me in Otter Lake. (I pray I can do the snowbird thing again this year)

Ann, that's a ferret.

-t, the National Museum of the American Indian (3rd and Independence S.W.) is still pretty new. And while I don't usually recommend cafeterias at Smithsonian museums, I make an exception for the NMAI. 5 stations, each serving food from a different American Indian regional tradition. Overpriced, but not as much as the other Smithsonians -- instead of spending $15 on a sandwich and an itty bitty salad, you're spending the same amount on an actual meal.

In fact, if you do that, let me know and I'll join you. And maybe we could make at least a mini-F2F out of it, if other DCistas can get to the area.

Oh yes. They had nummy food. Overpriced, but nummy.
