Which is where I've been meaning to announce I'm going for NYE. My brother's fiance is planning to do a Russian-style New Year's. Which I don't know what is, but since it's their biggest holiday, I'm sure will be lavish and fun
so, I don't have any plans for NYE . . .
I'm still up for some partying on NYE, but brunch on the weekend might also be good for people who can't or don't want to go out that night.
Okay. I'll keep it the same for now, and we can discuss it more later.

From what I recall of the one Russian-hosted New Year's I've attended - borscht and vodka. LOTS of vodka. So much vodka.
If I may extrapolate from my time in a former Soviet republic, this is every single holiday. Ever. And lots of the regular days as well.
t waits to see if any Russians pop out to be offended
Let 'em try and deny it.
Also jealous of the Scola and the SF NYE party. Need to uh, win the lottery for all the trips I want to take.
Y'all are reminding me that I need to figure out what I'm doing NYE. My usual partner in crime will be out of town.
I arrive (late) on Friday, Dec 28 (actualy, early the next morning), and I leave on Jan 1, and I'm staying at the Stanyan Park Hotel.
I now have a room at the Stanyan Park hotel on New Year's eve as well.
This is just a crazy amount of awesome. We can see your hotel from our bedroom window!

It's actually what I was thinking about saying. But I am only half-Russian.
Brunch or something with Tom the weekend before NYE sounds good to me! I think the last train home is at some ridiculously early time like 9:30 and driving on NYE is NOT something I want to do, so I probably wouldn't be up for anything on the actual holiday...
We can see your hotel from our bedroom window!
This means that hotel guests can see in your bedroom window!

Ha ha! They wish. They can see the top story of our building and nothing more, unless they have Superman-like eyesight.
And, conversely, for all I know all the guests at the Stanyan Park spends all night every night doing naked backflips in front of their windows. Even if I could find my glasses, I'd never be able to tell.
But I can still totally see the building from our place. The Lee and Scola Par-tay Hotel!11!!

You are so in. It'll be in Rosslyn. Details to follow.

See, that's what scares me. That's pretty much normal business day in Moscow. What do they do to make it special??? How much more vodka can you have?
