Sorry, Zen -- I didn't check back here after I posted that last week! As it was, I had a cold so didn't actually venture far from the beach house while I was there!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

No problem, Theodosia - next time!

I'm not here. Really. I'm working.

Just sent a notice to the Bay Area list regarding brunch at my place on July 15th. If you are here and interested and didn't get the ping, e-mail my profile addy.

Okay, folks, plans are coming together for the family flea's visit to DC this weekend. Anybody interested in joining us for dinner at Clarendon Metro, Saturday at 5:30? Our options seem to be Hard Times Cafe, Silver Diner, or Whitlow's, all of which have pluses and minuses (veggie-friendliness or not, ability to deal with groups or not, outdoor seating but facing West on a 90 degree afternoon...). Opinions on the choice welcomed. Please email me at casperflea at gmail if you're interested in coming. It will be the 4 of us, my 20 year old sister (who goes to Smith but meara is not allowed to corrupt her in any way) and maybe my friends and their 4 month old, depending on how the baby is. Plus some of you guys, I hope!

Sorry to miss it, flea, but I'll have my 17 year old niece and her friend in town, and we're going to see Shakespeare that night.

Back from Maine visiting Perkins -- I understand that Tom and Nora are on their way there right now. It was a fun and relaxing (even patriotic!) visit, where we didn't watch any TV (by choice) and only got on the internets once. But we fired up the wood stove a couple times and read and talked, and drove around and went to restaurants and all the good vacation things you should do when in Maine....

I just want to add that then yesterday evening, I sat talking to Nutty at Readercon, so it was a Two Buffista Day for me.

Dang, flea, I don't usually read this thread, and now it's just after 5:30! (And I'm not dressed to leave the house, and Clarendon is probably at least half an hour away). Cursed missed opportunities! Though honestly, if the sister is at Smith, she doesn't need ME to influence her...

Egad flea! I'm with meara about the not reading here usually. I'm so sorry I missed you and the fam. Clarendon is a fun place to sup. Hope you had a lovely evening.
