"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I posted this to the DCistas, but if any locals are interested in making a trip to Baltimore on Sunday to check out the Charm City Roller Girls and lisah's band, my DH and I are planning to drive up -- my profile addy is good.

Damn, I'm actually going back up to Columbia, MD on Sunday, but I'm staying with friends and need to get going early Monday (and Sunday, honestly).

Damn

Damn, indeed. Doors open at 6 p.m., and lisah's band is playing that first 1/2 hour, because matches start at 6:30. We'll have to drive back, and I'll have to go to work the next day, so it we won't engage in too much debauchery (but much fun).

I can bring either a boombox w/ a 5 CD changer or some portable speakers and a 5 CD carousel changer. The advantage to the second option is, if anyone wants to bring an iPod or other portable player, we can plug that into the speakers (I don't think the boombox has any input capability.) I don't know how big the room is and how much noise leakage we'll have from the rest of Manuel's - if we need more powerful sound (an amp & some bigger speakers), I can set that up. I've got a small portable DVD player. I don't think it has the multiformat capabilities that askye's has. I'll make sure we have whatever cables and connecters we need to hook up all the audio/video stuff.

I'll bring the OMWF DVD and soundtrack CD. I can bring some older "classic rock" music, but if we want dance/party/fun music from the last couple of decades, someone else needs to bring it. If anyone wants to volunteer to be the DJ for prom, speak up now. Otherwise, we'll need folks to bring CDs, iPods, laptops with tunes, etc., and we'll mix it up.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Fabulous! If there are noise issues, we have doors we can close.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I have an iPod and I have a fair amount of dance/party/fun music. You will all shake your tushes and despair. Kidding. I have no idea how to handle this... Someone could create a playlist on their iPod, taking some suggestions (and yes, I remember what happened last year when ND took requests, anyone got a better idea?). Or people who wanted to could bring party mixes on cds and we just hit "shuffle all" on the changer, assuming that option exists.

I'm confused... are people talking about playing DVDs at Manuel's or just in the hospitality suite?

Thrive to spite them

I was just talking about the hospitality suite in case anyone wanted to watch/pimp some shows or vids.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Gotcha.

So... y'all may or may not know this, but I bellydance? *g*

I was wondering if people were interested in me performing at Prom again. There's a poll in my lj to fill out - it was the easiest way I could think of to get people's input.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

You will all shake your tushes and despair.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I wasn't even going to offer my taste in music. Most of my CDs are not what you'd call danceable.

Thrive to spite them

I made reservations for my rental car. Originally I expected to take my car but there are issues. I'm getting a cheap little economy car rather than having my roomy Accord.

I'll still be able to drive people around, but either fewer people or closely scrunched together.

smonster are you going to bring music by the Scottish band you mentioned in Bitches (I think it was Bitches), I haven't had a chance to listen to their stuff yet and they sound very interesting.
