How many Buffistas does it take to open a lightbulb?

Back from Nashville & hanging out with Jessica, Kate P., smonster, and amyth. GREAT time - I quite enjoy Nashville, we got to see the Ryman, and the company was, as always, faboo. Plus, karaoke Nashville-style, which is to say HILARIOUS.
::is extremely jealous::
::wishes SA could have been there::
Okay, I have to say - Nashville? Hilarious.
Karaoke in Nashville? Hilarious to an INCREDIBLE degree. Oh. My. Gawd. Y'all. Leaving aside the entire bar bellowing along to David Allan Coe's "You Never Even Called Me By My Name", the FIVE different bridal parties in just that particular bar (we visited a lot of them), the bar RUNNING OUT of Jack Daniels (I'm fairly sure that's illegal in Tennessee) - there's still enough fodder for a story or fifteen. Like the dude in an all-velour Lakers warmup suit singing "Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk". Or the mulleted dude singing Metallica. Or the insanely drunk chick trying to play air guitar for everyone.
Also, I recognized the bartenders in the first bar we walked in to on Friday. Go Team Alcoholics! (Actually, go Team Curtis' Friends. Who are all probably alcoholics. So it works out.)
ALSO! We went way the hell out of our way to visit a bar that I knew had Fernet, and when we got there? They were out because all of the bartenders drink it and they're the only bar in N'ville that has Fernet. shaky fist
::takes notes: take own Fernet to Nashville::
t makes note to self
Take own juliana EVERYWHERE.
Copies Aimee's notes
Snuggles juliana close.
Nashville = lots of fun. Nashville with amyth, Jess, juliana, and smonster? Made of awesome, y'all.
Karaoke in Nashville? Hilarious to an INCREDIBLE degree.
Totally! And juliana's being modest and not mentioning her fabulous rendition of "Proud Mary" (obnoxious drunk air-guitaring spotlight-stealing chick notwithstanding), all sexy and growly and fantastic. That was so much fun.
(I put my name in for Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" but the list was way too long, so we had to leave before my turn came up. Sad!)
Other highlights of the weekend: touring the Ryman, buying a ridiculous number of boots, eating Jack's Bar-B-Que, winning Haunted Tavern Tour shotglasses (Team Winchester for the win!), attempting to track down Fernet and instead being given free drinks by the bar owner (who, to nobody's surprise, had met juliana a few months ago in SF) when no Fernet was forthcoming, and then--possibly my favorite part--waking up on Sunday morning to discover that the early birds had gone down and procured a huge (and hangover-curing) breakfast spread for us all, followed by several hours of lazing around the hotel suite, watching country music videos (oh yes), and just hanging out and talking.
Sigh. Can every weekend be a Buffista weekend?
I think it was the combination of all of us - I misremember who found the Haunted Tavern tour, but that was a brilliant idea (plus, trivia! The categories were Alcohol, Scary Movies, and Music and the prize was a shot glass. The other teams didn't really have a chance). Kate P. was the one who drove the karaoke (we didn't go looking for it, but we found it anyway). I did have a mile-long list of bars to go to and people to talk to.
And, as smonster said, the problem in Nashville is not finding live music &/or the party, it's avoiding it.
