Yeah, we did well going to Evanston for Chicago.

if we like a city but the central hotels are too expensive, if there's good public transit outlying areas might be a possibility.
Like Salem! Heh. Well, I gotta check on room rates and stuff.
And may I throw an idea in? if we like a city but the central hotels are too expensive, if there's good public transit outlying areas might be a possibility.
This is why Harvard Square and parts of Somerville, etc. would work really well for the Boston area, 'cause they'd all be T-able.
I've fired off a couple of inquiries... anyone have the number of rooms booked and the number of room nights for SF or DC?

Heh, my perception is that these areas rock on their own and it took me a minute to think about how people would want to go to Boston!
Well, yeah, there is that, Nora!

I'd love to see the surrounding area, myself. I managed to spend one good day in Boston and saw a lot of the highlights. The only thing I really want to go back to is the MFA. You know museums, you can never see everything in just one visit.
while that hotel looks lovely, I'm not sure it has everything we want. It doesn't look like they have suites, for the hospitality suite, or any kind of meeting room/ballroom we could have prom in.
Well, the party always has been in the hotel but I don't suppose it HAS to be -- as long as its in staggering distance.
Just floating an idea: What if this time we picked the city THEN picked the date? We'd be better able to cope with local events, weather, etc.
A lot of the time people can make a date but end up not coming because they can't make the cost -- this could be a way to keep the costs down.
Or maybe pimp a city and a date (or two) at the same time.
That way were deciding between, say, Atlanta at a good time for Atlanta and Boston at a good time for Boston.
