We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

was it smonster pimping Corb in this thread?

In this thread, in my LJ, in my car, at work... as I said elsewhere, my life has turned into the Corb Lund Promo Hour and I'm strangely okay with that.

So glad you're finding it FG! As much as I love his music, I have a hard time explaining what makes it so awesome. It's just... sheer simple genius.

Where did your nephew hear about him? Which album do you have?

move out and draw fire

We've got "Hair in my Eyes Like a Highland Steer." Who knows where my nephew heard about him originally, although he dragged his GF to the Mall to see Corb in concert over the 4th (he lives in DC). He said we had to hear "Truck Got Stuck" (in part I'm sure because my DH does genetically modified agriculture issues, but dude, it's brilliant), and that he knew we'd like the album overall.

He's also the one who turned us on to Steve Earle.

Anyway, yeah, Corb Lund. Great hooks, great lyrics, great delivery.

Compassionately intolerant

Not to mention the Corby cuteness!

Yeah, it's the little details you can hang on to, like that bit with the seed. I crack up every time at the last line. There's a video for that song on his website, corblund.com.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

So, I'm leaving town in 2 weeks. There was talk of DC-istas getting together (again. 3 times in a month! The world may end!) before that. I know I would like to see people again. Maybe sometime early in the week of the 17th?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

We have achieved Juliana! We walked from Union Square to Soho, then back to the hotel for a wee break, then had dinner (and drinks) at 'inoteca, and then (more) drinks at Anotheroom. It is now very late and I am extremely tired and also a little tipsy. Whee!

Can I just say, I went all the way to San Francisco, and Lee pleaded a headache and Juliana left town? On the other hand, there were Zmayhem waffles and Golden Gate Park and Go Team Venture! so it's not like I was lacking.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Hmph.

Not sure if that's at you, me, or my migraine, but hmph nonetheless.

Heh. I had a fantastic time, and I'm very sorry about your migraine. We'll make up for it when I get out there and take shameful advantage of everyone's hospitality.

Our wings are not tired.

Yes indeed, the Zmayhem hospitality is a golden thing. I like picturing you in SF, Emily. Gonna fit you like a glove.

I'm headed NE by the end of the week. Yes, I should be packing. I'll be there about a month. Weather permitting the boys go back to school August 16 so I'll need to be back a day or 2 before. Hoping for a hurricane delay to push it back to after Labor Day as is right and proper.

Home port is Otter Lake NY, but exploration throughout the NE region is anticipated. I sent an email to the somervillains list for hopefully some coordination there.
