OK, sometimes things just work out. I'm still planning on bringing survival kits to picketers, and was thinking that Tuesday was going to be my best bet for actually going, and what do I find on the WGA East website, but this:
Tuesday, Dec. 18th
12 to 2:00
Thomas Paine Park in Foley Square
DIRECTIONS: Thomas Paine Park in Foley Square, Worth Street at Lafayette and Centre Streets; trains: #4, 5, 6 to Brooklyn Bridge; J, M, Z to Chambers; A, C, E, to Chambers; R, W to City Hall
Join writers of some of the best-known crime shows to shine a light on the bad behavior of the AMPTP and hear the indictment of their inaction at the bargaining table. Writers and Actors from Law and Order, Homicide, and dozens of other shows will be present at this bi-coastal event. We’ll rally in the heart of “the criminal justice system” in lower Manhattan!
I love those shows! Now I'm all excited.
I love those shows! Now I'm all excited.
And the best thing they can do is make it topical and exciting for the people that love their work. Go them! (Hopefully it won't be as silly as a fake exorcism...)
I thought that would happen.
I'd be glad to get Jon back on the air.
I had an idea of doing something to help the BTL people, by asking people to send donations to:
WGA Support Fund
Motion Picture & Television Fund
23388 Mullholland Drive
Woodland Hills, CA 91364
Donations by web: www.mptvfund.org
Donations by phone: 818-876-1900
And send me their receipts, which I'll enter in a raffle to win whatever signed scripts I can get my hands on through the end of January.
I'm just unsure of how many signed scripts I can get to help, and how fast. It won't be done in time for xmas unless I can get a good bunch by midweek.
Anyone have any organizational ideas? Or want to tell me this is whack?
I can't stop thinking about 40k spent on pencils when all these folks are out of work.
My God - seriously, 40k? On the pencils?
!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go you, Allyson - that's an entirely admirable undertaking.
Do you know anybody at the MPTV fund, Allyson? In my brain, if they had a way of easily separating out donations it'd help your admin time on it, like, a lot.
40k? On the pencils?
Dear doG, that's just criminal for publicity stunt. I mean, the BTL thing is one thing, but at Xmas, 40k to an LA food bank or something.
