Today was cool but I fear we've taken this whole "theme day" on the picket lines a little too far now:
"SCENE OF THE CRIME" BICOASTAL PICKET: A special picket for writers of cop/crime shows and their stars.
PREMISE: The AMPTP and six co-conspirators have been indicted for trying to steal the Internet and misappropriate the future of writers (depending on how negotiations are going on the 18th, other charges may be added). A reading of the Bill of Indictment will take place at WB, the birthplace of the Hollywood film noir. The Indictment will then be delivered to the WB and simultaneously to the AMPTP HQ, CBS, NBC-Universal, Fox, Sony, ABC-Disney, Paramount-Viacom in Los Angeles; and in New York, to Time-Warner, News Corp, 30 Rock, CBS, Sony and ABC-Disney. The AMPTP and its accomplices will then be Encouraged to seek a plea bargain. At which point appropriate chanting and picketing will take place. An attempt will be made to wrap Crime Scene Tape completely around the studio lot.
CHANT: "A-M-P-T-P, COP A PLEA!"
It's a madhouse! A madhouse!
Added my photos to the ME pool: [link]
In a completely shocking turn of events (not), talks have broken down again.
That load of crap makes me want to seriously hurt someone.
Wow.
Wow wow wow.
Good goddamn.
I was explaining the strike to my boss's wife at dinner tonight, and I said it looked like the AMPTP was going to walk away today, but I had no idea they would go out so shittily.
a streaming proposal that would require us to give them more money than we make ourselves
Someone
please
explain to me how asking for a
percentage
of profits (that is less than 100) could possibly result in a calculation that exceeds the profit in question?
Oh, thank you, AMPTP:
Lastly, we cannot agree to any new residual formula based upon the concept of “Distributor’s Gross.” That is, any residual formula that requires payment to be made based upon the receipts of an entity other than the signatory Company is unacceptable to us. Our agreement to share revenues with you must be limited to those revenues actually received by the signatory Company.
So...I don't understand what the WGA is asking for here because if I'm understanding
this
correctly, it
would
technically be possible for the writers to get a percentage of money the studios don't have. Although I don't know how that would happen when they're only asking for 2.5 frickin' percent.
CHANT: "A-M-P-T-P, COP A PLEA!"
I'm trying to figure out how that scans. Two silent beats before "cop a plea"?
Me too, Jon, and it's driving me crazy. I didn't think of the silent beat option. I'm with the writers, but chants shouldn't make me doubt their abilities. Maybe they need some cheerleaders to help them.
The Grr Argh Guy picture is my favorite, so far. That must have been a fun day for ME fans, who have been itching to picket FOX for something, for years now.
Maybe they need some cheerleaders to help them.
Maybe two hand claps instead of two silent beats?
A-M-P-T-P
t clap
t clap
COP A PLEA!
