A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Of course Reaper and Lost are in very different situations with Reaper being a new show and Lost having a large following.

Doesn't Reaper have more to lose than Lost? There's no question that Lost will survive the strike, while Reaper could be mortally wounded by it.

Well, there are all those other people who depend on Lost for a job.
If Cuse is just going in to do post, I don't think his presence (or the lack) affects anyone else's job.

This sums up the debate the showrunners had about whether/how to separate production duties from writing. [link]

Art Crawl!!!

In a sense Reaper has more to lose than Lost - but in another sense, because Reaper is on the CW which doesn't have all that much going for it, Reaper may be in a stronger position than it seems at first.

(Although if the CW goes under - none of those shows will be in a happy place.)

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

If Cuse is just going in to do post, I don't think his presence (or the lack) affects anyone else's job.

I understood that in the case of Lost, if ABC can't get most of a season, the show won't air this year. If the show wouldn't air whether he does post on those shows or not, there's no reason for Cuse to go in. So he must be going in to ensure the entire production won't be shut down for the whole season.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I understood that in the case of Lost, if ABC can't get most of a season, the show won't air this year.

Really? I heard ABC was planning to air eight episodes of the sixteen-episode season regardless, to Lindelof's dismay.

So he must be going in to ensure the entire production won't be shut down for the whole season.

It sounds to me like he's going in to make sure the final product turns out okay.

What is even happening?

I'm not sure about that. I know Supernatural is still shooting, but Kripke (last I understood, anyhow) isn't crossing the line. He's going to let them put out a mess -- er, that is, he's going to let them put out the episodes that were already written without taking part in the process.

I can definitely see being torn if you'd already signed a contract and given your word to fulfill duties other than writing ones as a producer.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Here's a question. With THE INSIDE, we all know the cast options expired (or whatever the term is - I've no clue) before the show was officially dead. FOX failed to renew them, so we all knew the show was deader than a dead thing before Variety and the like announced it was dead.

Shows like Reaper... Surely those options are going to come up over the next few months, whilst the shows aren't even shooting any more? Unless a show has been a TV Hit, I can't see networks/studios wanting to extend cast stuff, so that'll kill the new shows?

Personally, I think Cuse is damaging the WGA's position here. That's purely a personal point of view. ABC have already made and announced the decision to air those 8 episodes, so he isn't risking loosing their franchise. He isn't costing people jobs.

Though, if those episodes totally suck ass (not out of the realm of possibility with Lost), it could lose them audience in the long run...
