I think that you have to watch the new Robin Hood like anyone watches Smallville. With v. low expectations.
Not an unfair remark, but I'd actually say it's more a Xena or Hercules headspace you need to be occupying to appreciate it. It's a show that lays its cards on the table within the first five seconds of the first episode: no, we aren't going for historical accuracy or logic. Look! Swashbuckling!
I rather like it, within those parametres of OMGWTF cracktastic anachronistic nonsense. Because (1) my people! Making genre-ish telly! Based on our folk tales! And because (2) I like the hot Muslim tomboy. But, yes, you do have to watch it with your brain switched off, or else you'll be all "But Marion! You're wearing trousers! What about the sumptuary laws?" and so forth.
