In other news, I think I'm warming up to the credits and the theme song. J.D. Pardo still looks like this bizarre CGI Sim, but I like most everyone else, and the song is growing on me.

All right. Have finally caught up with "Drive." But first, an anecdote.

I have a friend in SoCal, a fellow poet named Chris, and I know when a new poem's good because Chris will shout out from the audience "fuck you," because writing he perceives as better than his makes him angry. It's a thing.

I say that because those were the words out of my mouth after watching three (four, I suppose) episodes back to back, and then being left on a cliffhanger.

The week of waiting for the new episode is going to royally suck. Seriously. Used to be that, to get this anxious, I had to do some sort of substance.

So Tim ... eh, you've figured out what I want to say already. This show rocks. And by "rock," I mean "addictive-beyond-belief substance."

victor, at the end of episode three, when the movie countdown ended to reveal...that we had to wait till next week to see what it was, I exclaimed, "Oh, you fuckers!" So I know the feeling.

You're welcome! Although I just do what I'm asked, with what I'm given. In other words, be sure to throw some love Tim's way if he ever gets some sleep and resurfaces.

I was retelling bits of the plot to a friend and realised that although I don't know if he'll live or die, Sean's fate wasn't the cliffhanger for me off of this ep. Where Alex was taking him--that's what I wanted to know most.

I am enjoying Drive, and find it an engaging and fast-passing hour of TV. I'm not in adoration of it, but I'm not asking that so much of TV these days. I don't feel like a flailer anymore.

I'm trying to find the Tim in what we've seen before (okay, this episode's death is an easy one). Of the things you like about Tim (wit, savagery, etc.) do you guys feel like it's been showcased so far? Do you see his footprints all over hours one through four?

Although I like it more than The Inside, the bits I liked most of The Inside reeked of him way more than I'm feeling with Drive.

Oh, and Alex. I feel like Alex is Tim's.

Wendy getting her mug shot at the police station, that was very Tim Writing for Wonderfalls. Everytime some gets whacked in the face with a shovel, or the constant busting up of Alex, that's all Tim, who has a thing for his leading men taking the Lucy pratfall.

I think a lot of Tim's leading men echo Indiana Jones in a lot of ways, constantly getting the shit kicked out of them, pulling out the gun, finding it unloaded and running away to hope the bad guy gets shredded by a propeller in a stroke of serendipity.

If Alex ever got his wife back, he'd be shortly hit by a bus...or an ambulance. That's classic Minear.

There's been shades of that, but it feels like he's trying to dilute that a bit. He's big on earning the pain.

I feel like the dynamic between Alex and Corinna is developing into what he always intended for Angel and Cordelia; a sibling love and loyalty. I could be projecting, but it feels like it's being developed. They'll bicker and protect each other at all costs. Like that. You know what I mean? It's (i think) a rare sort of relationship in that when two beautiful people are thrown together in a teevee show, it's an easy out to have them fuck. It's harder and more unexpected when there's a platonic love. It's harder for people to get, but I think he did it well with Angel and Cordelia. I'm specifically thinking of the "oh I'll kill you dead (if you go Angelus)" scene on the roof, here.

I think that's the dynamic he's going for with Alex and Corinna, and it's just in its infancy.

Darn, that photo of Tim is freakin' adorable.

Was it just me that felt there were multiple Dukes of Hazzard shout-outs in this episode? The intro movie thingy was all cross-country yee-haw road race, and then later on we got "General Lee." whenever they were trying to figure out the clue on screen, I would say, "Go to Hazzard County!"

And no, I'm not sure I want to know why my brain chose to go to that particular place last night.
