[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Shall I bring it up again in Bureaucracy, or is that the general opinion?

No. What Liese posted above is the actual policy. Liese S. "The Minearverse 5: Closer to the Earth, Further from the Ax" Apr 11, 2007 10:51:25 am PDT

What is even happening?

What about white font in Natter?

In natter it's a spoiler if it hasn't aired in the US and whitefonted for current season (non NAFDA), isn't it?

What is even happening?

Is there any official policy? All I can find is the thread header:

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Seems like a loop-hole to me. I hate to push people who don't want to be spoiled for other shows into the Spoiler thread, when they're just talking about something that's on their TV a week earlier than it's on US TVs. We don't do it in Boxed Set for the Brit airing and aheming of Dr. Who and Torchwood, and I think those are way more ahead.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

I suppose we could go in UnAmerican for it. Unless I'm wrong. It says spoiler free, but if it's aired outside of America my thinking is that's okay.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Look, the problem we're having is we're looking at thread definitions and policies that were formed around one specific set of circumstances, now long past. Atlantic Canadians was for early viewers, show threads were for current USian viewers, UnAmericans was for late viewers. But we set that all up for, you know, Buffy. Natter was specifically not NAFDA so that spoiler free chatter could happen there. Spike was NAFDA chatter. But that's history.

Nonetheless, if we are going to go by semantics, my memory indicates that the "current-season" reference in Natter and in UnAmerican was specifically referring to current-season US airing. Which would still exclude Canadian aired Drive. IMO.

I don't see how watching illegally downloaded copies prior to US broadcast (which I do of other shows, don't get me wrong) doesn't constitute a spoiler. To me it looks the same as Jess' press screeners.

Now, that said, is there anyone out there who is planning to download and/or watch Canadianly the first episode who is not comfortable with discussion in the Spoiler Thread?

I should be fine using Spoilers. I've dipped in and out of it before and remained unspoiled about stuff I care about with quick scrolly mice.

It doesn't belong in UnAmerican.

Me, neither. I was only worried about Canadian viewers, not people who were seeking to be spoiled ahead of time.

Really, new Who and Torchwood should move to spoilers, then. Although I'm saying that from clarity point of view - I don't care with those shows as I'm in the UK.

Also, Variety's Drive review is up: [link]

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

FWIW, I doubt there'll be anything else to talk about in Spoilers over the next week, so it should be a safe thread for people who only want to talk about Drive and not get spoiled for other stuff.
