[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

What is even happening?

FCM: Fred MacMurray, William Holden, Humphrey Bogart

F Holden, C MacMurray, M Bogart.

Holden is lovely, but I'm pretty sure he had a devil of a time with the booze, whereas Bogart just lived hard for a time. MacMurray? He's too father-y for me. He must be chucked.

What he does after I kick him out of bed is not my concern.

This explains much about my track record.

Somebody's never seen DOUBLE INDEMNITY or THE APARTMENT, methinks. Let's just say, Billy Wilder brought out the sleaze in good ol' Fred.

eta, I think Bogie has to be a C or an M, because he was a serial monogamist who was serial via marriage. However, anyone who got Baby and kept her 'til the end has got to have SOMETHING going for him, IMO, so it's probably worth giving the F to someone else.

Luck of the best sort, Kristen!

I'd mentioned last year's thing to my parents and they thought it was an interesting process and were bemused I knew people in that business. See, they haven't been able to watch network tv since mom got pissed at the antenna weeding and knocked it down...

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Too many My Three Sons re-runs at an impressionable age. I suspect that's where Cindy is coming from, too.

Oh, no doubt, and maybe a little Absent-minded Professor thrown in as well. I still think he's the most likely candidate for folks to chuck, but there's a whole gamut of reasons for the chucking.

Thanks, sarameg!

And my folks seem to have become much more TV aware since I moved to LA. I'm assuming that's my influence but it's still a little disconcerting when my mom says stuff like, "Could they shop it around to other networks?"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

When she starts to use ankle as a verb, you're in lots of trouble.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Too many My Three Sons re-runs at an impressionable age.

Of course, but that's at least half the joy of watching the Wilderene sleaze. It's all "I can't believe Dad would do those things!!"

That said, C
