Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

Well, I like to believe it's the same reason I didn't like it.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Wash's death didn't feel clichéd to me,

Me either. I shrieked "Tim!"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wash's death certainly worked for me.

it's such a perfect little music box of a story as it is

Yes! I miss Jaye, and I really miss Aaron, but I kinda don't want what we had to be messed with.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I'm strongly in favor of endings. And I always prefer missing something to getting sick of it.

Oh yeah. Which is why I'm perfectly happy with the 13 episodes of it, as well. They worked.

I'd love another season in a world where such would be possible, but as it it's like having Buffy Season 1 as a complete and perfect thing without ever having to descend into the crap that bubbled up in the final seasons.

With you there on the quality of the first three seasons, but I was going for similar episode runs. Buffy season 1 had a fair amount of closure at the end, so if it had been just the initial season it wouldn't have felt incomplete.

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

I would so love to read that original version of Serenity. Just for the geektasticness. (Well, and also, more Firefly is never bad in my book.)
