Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Well. That was odd.

What is even happening?

It was odd, Allyson. They'll likely end up more pissy that you were telling the truth, and that your book has nothing to do with Spike. They're probably hoping for 'shipper war chapters or something. It's so far apart -- so above that. Thank goodness.

it's fast. It's unexpected; characters did things that made me say, "huh. that's weird as shit, but I see where it might make sense to them." The characters are flawed and a little bit odd and broken, and fundamentally human. Granted pilots are all set up and there are several characters, but at the end, the last shot, I kept thinking, "Well, what happens next?" and that's a good sign for me.

Kat totally sold me on "Drive" with this, for the record.

Me too, Nilly.

Kat, the older I get (or maybe just the more experience I have with shows that make me think) I find myself more drawn to flawed, odd, and broken, and fundamentally human characters. Thank you.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah. Very, very odd. People are odd.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I saw the promo Jen mentioned, for TV's hit, Drive, during 24, last night. I couldn't pay attention to its substance, because I was so happy to see it being promoted during the 24 season premiere.

People are odd.

I thought they were strange.

Art Crawl!!!

I saw it too -- I would have mentioned that but it had already been posted.

I was a little disappointed that they only ran it during the 1st hour. I hope we get to see another tonight.

It doesn't appear to be on Amazon yet. That's Buy.com, where it's cheapest.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

for the record, buy.com cancelled my pre-order this morning. simply saying "We were recently informed that the item listed below from order #31954069 is no longer available from that supplier. Please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience."

wha-huh? it's not available because it's a pre-order. WUWT? the only thing i could guess is that the pre-orders far outweighed what they had initially ordered. *shrug*
