Dawn: I thought you were adequate. Giles: And the accolades keep pouring in. I'd best take my leave before my head swells any larger. Good night.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It predates chatspeak by a healthy amount. And bits of it have gained more inroads into the way many of us speak.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I like Variety-speak. They are having fun with language, and it's a tie to show business history. Variety has been around FOREVER (since 1905), and it's nice to think of cigar-chomping impresarios in the 20's reading the same kind of words as we do now.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I love "skein" as show/story.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

I'm with Robin. I enjoy reading Variety-speak, even if it can get a bit more than a bit ridiculous.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I love Variety speak too. Not least because it's immortalized in an Animaniacs song.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

Any news?

I heard a rumor that there will be cars.
