It kind of feels like the role he was born to play.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
Are you looking forward to or dreading the Black Dahlia movie?
I'm looking forward to it! I'm actually planning to go into a movie theater to see it!
My feeling on the movie (as with all other movies, documentaries, books and Hunter episodes) is that we're never going to know who really killed Elizabeth Short. It will forever remain an unsolved mystery. So I enjoy all the theories and the fiction based on the crime.
It's about the death of George Reeves, - the actor who played the TV Superman.
The person who wrote the (original) screenplay said he was disappointed that they rewrote the script and made it much less about George Reeves and more about the Adrian Brody character. It made me less interested in seeing it.
(Because they are the Cheese.)
Indeed, they are.

It has a really cool, supernoir trailer. I like the song they use; do you know what it is?
I loves me some sad-eyed Adrien Brody and am looking forward to the movie. I also want to see the Black Dahlia movie, for the same reasons as Kristen, but I worry about the De Palma hackification of it. He never had an original idea in his life, and his films are only good if he is blatantly copying the style of paying homage to a really good director. He has great source material in the Ellroy novel and is going the noir route, so I am hoping it all works.
You could probably say Curtis Hanson is/was quite the hack himself, but LA Confidential was ok. Not that that predicts anything. But this moved was on the shelf for awhile, wasn't it?
But this moved was on the shelf for awhile, wasn't it?
I thought it was actually in development hell for a while, not on the shelf - Fincher was originally signed to do it, IIRC.
Man, as bad as I thought Ryan's performance was last night? Tonight was god awful. It's like he is trying so damn hard to be something he is not.
This is why I call him The Poseur. First week, he was all tormented John Mayer boy. In the weeks since, he's been everything from David Gahan to Sgt. Pepper in Mourning.
God yes! But I was so afraid the the SuperNoWays really really liked him. Thank goodness Storm kicked that song. And Dilana - that performance was almost Zayra-like in its oddness. I wonder if she'd been in the bottom three before if she'd be out of there. And somehow I don't think that the songwriting clinic is going to be a boost for her. . . but I'm hoping it'll be a boost for Storm even though Gilbey is running it.
BTW, that new SuperN song was possible the WORST YET -- it didn't help that Mumblemouth the Goth Hobbit was singing it. And I can't believe that they gave the encore to Toby over Magni. Magni totally deserved it.
Rock Star: Talk about surprises, Toby blew me away tonight on the encore. Until now, he seemed like a nice enough guy and I enjoyed some of his performances but he'd never given me anything WOW. I thought his performance tonight was WOW. I was super impressed the strength and quality of his voice. He ran all over the house and his vocals never suffered.
Why did Ryan feel the need to rape the CSI: NY theme song of the last tattered remnants of its dignity? Ryan, I hope for your sake that Roger Daltrey wasn't waiting for you in the alley behind the studio. He's old enough to be your grandfather but he can still kick your sad poseur ass.
Though he was actually more interesting than Dilana, who just blew chunks all over that stage.
In continuing Shut Up Gilby Clarke news, you haven't grown since 1993. I don't want to hear about it.
sumi, I wasn't too worried about that. At one point during Ryan's performance, they cut to the dias and I thought the guys looked kinda uncomfortable or possibly irritated by his theatrics. And 20 years of SN music? Ryan you're insane. And mean. Why would you want to inflict that upon us? (Not that it would ever happen. I already have a grassy knoll theory about this band's future.)
Also, did you hear the rumor that SuperAssholes won't be performing any more new songs? Which would mean the only three contestants to perform with them are: Dilana, Toby and Lukas. If it's true, it sounds like they've picked their final three already.
And! Speaking of my catshit crazy girl, we can vote for someone to come back?!? Z!
ETA: And good god. I invoked the name of John Mayer earlier and now he's doing a very special performance on the season premiere of CSI: Original Recipe.
