I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Now I'm earwormed with...

Me, I've got "Mirror in the Bathroom."

Possibly making no plans this weekend other than Stupid Thesis was a mistake.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There's a party for a kravver I could go to. But I have no idea how many people there I'll know, and I don't know the birthday girl that well at all.

And I'd have to leave in about 15 minutes to make the surprise portion of it.

I have a suspicion it's not happening.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Am I just imagining that nuking another country out of the blue would effectively push the other 5.75 billion inhabitants of the planet into direct opposition of the US as a rogue nation?

Since this article by Hersch (one of our great journalists) is based totally on anonymous sources I'm hoping this is just admin spin. An attempt to intimidate Iran, and perhaps to soften the reaction to the actual attack. "What a relief! They didn't use nukes." I sure wish I had confidence in that hypothesis.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Me, I've got "Mirror in the Bathroom."

Good choice!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

There's not even any Criminal Intent on! Only SVU. I guess this will be a good opportunity to go to bed early, in preparation for actually having to be somewhere at 8:30 Monday morning. (The horror!)

Good choice!

Now I feel all validated in my musical knowledge.

I defer to you in all things R&B from 1985 - 2006.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm pretty out of it, the second half of that time frame.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

So is anyone doing /did anyone do anything cool tonight?

JZ, Juliana and I are going to a club to dance to an all Smiths night. That is, when (a) JZ wakes up from her afternoon nap and (b) Juliana finishes with her theatrical meeting thingie. But that's the plan.

According to JZ the only time she's actually gotten to dance to the Smiths at a club was the last time we went out with Juliana at Dark Sparkle and that was just one song. So she's quite looking forward to having a bushel and a peck of Smiths to dance to.

Also, inspired by the wave of spring croppings, I cut her hair this afternoon, and she's now sporting a short layered bob (which gives a cloche-like effect) with the back buzzed from nape to occipital bone.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Nope. I was hoping to meet up with P-C and company, but I had to finish a project for work so it didn't happen.
