If every vampire who said he was at the crucifixion was actually there, it would have been like Woodstock.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

What was your first favorite?

Sadly, I don't remember. I guess we didn't have to write in our journals that day.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I wish I still had my journal that describes my second-favorite outfit from fifth grade: purple corduroys, purple striped legwarmers, purple sweater with the rainbow applique my grandmother sewed on....

I think I can top that. Picture a 7-year-old me in 1973, wearing a burnt orange jumpsuit with knicker legs, with chocolate brown buttons and front pockets. I thought it was sooo cool at the time, but all I can think of now is pure UGH!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

You might want to skip "I Gotcha" (it's the first number in the Red Dress). Unless you like trainwrecks of the complete mismatch between voice and material.

The Liza with a Z discussion was earlier this morning, but man did that show RULE. People should see it-- choreography by Fosse! It's completely nuts. For that reason I actually like the Gotcha song. I was fairly bored by the first bit with the white suit but once she started in with the choreography and the short short skirt and the dancers who look like bathhouse pimps, I was completely hooked.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

SO not old enough to dress myself in the eighties. Well, maybe towards the end, but that usually ended badly.

Your age wasn't the reason it ended badly. The age was.

I don't mind dropped waist, but right now the stores I go into are totally full of empire waist tops, and I adore that. I'm sure I'll look back on all of it as a maternity wear faux pas, but right now, I like how it fits my breasts and camouflages my lack of hip.

Oh, and TEENY LITTLE DENIM SKIRTS. They bug me from a shopping PoV.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Things I miss about the 80's

1) big hair. It was easy and took very little effort. though the messy look of the 90's worked as well.

2) big tops over small bottoms. To this day I would wear leggings and oversized jackets/ tops . I have great shaped legs( thanks dad) -- and the oversized tops with skinny bottoms did good things for me.

3) brights with black. year round. Summer and spring clothes that weren't pastels.

"We have trust issues." Mylar

Empire waists rock and look good on just about anyone. Drop waists are just . . . no. I can't.

I love the teeny tiny denim skirt. But then again my fashion choices, especially during the summer, tend to run toward the "How close to nekkid without actually being nekkid can I get?" variety. I think maybe I was X-tina in a former life.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Well... nearly anything on a 7yo looks cute.

I just gave my 8yo niece a scarf knitted with Disco fun fur, which is the most gawdawful sparkly, unnaturally colored scarf you could imagine. Not only does she love it, but it looks good on her. :-)

information libertarian

Empire waists look terrible on me. I am small-busted and very long-waisted. I actually don't like them on most people; I like waists.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My teeny skirt is shorter than where my fingertips fall at my thighs' side. But if I can't bend over in it without flashing underwear, it's too short. Or if I have to have it sit below the top of my pelvic girdle, it's also too short. Those skirts just drift right up on me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't think Empire waists look good on me, but I can't remember actually having one on my body. I feel like, if you can't see my waist, I just look like an enormous lump.

In other 80s-ish news, my mother got me an oversized, bat-wing-ish sweater for Christmas that could not have looked worse on me. Made me look enormous. Luckily she agreeed, and bought it back from me.
