And you're sure this isn't just some fanboy thing? 'Cause I've fought more than a couple pimply, overweight vamps that called themselves Lestat.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Forsythias are all in the ground, and in the nick of time, because it started raining as I was digging the hole for the last one. Have since taken a shower, and scrubbed off thick layer of mud. Back is still mildly annoyed.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Jesse, I gave up an hour earlier and several sources short of what my goal was. I do not know how this thing will get written. There just isn't enough time or energy in the world.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There's always Bob, but it looks weird coming from white people:

War Bob Marley and the Wailers

Until the philosophy which holds one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there are no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes
Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race
Dis a war

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be pursued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war, war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
That hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique,
South Africa sub-human bondage
Have been toppled, utterly destroyed
Well, everywehre is war, me say war

War in the east, war in the west
War up north, war down south
War, war, rumours of war

And until that day, the African continent
Will not know peace, we Africans will fight

We find it necessary and we know we shall win
As we are confident in the victory

Of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
Good over evil, good over evil, good over evil

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just can't care about this stupid thing. (Edit: My thesis, obviously, not racism. I care about racism! I'm against it.) Which is why I'm trying really really hard to take my 4/10 draft deadline seriously. At least that will mean I have a big part of the paper done, if crappily. Then I can procrastinate editing it for another month.

Oh, and Nora, this is the Bad Student in me talking, but how are you doing in the program overall? Have you handed in anything crappy yet? Sometimes it's time to go for good enough instead of crazy-making, if you think you can get away with it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Get on, productive natterinos!

I'm only moderately productive. Had a long interesting conversation over brunch with the roommate that touched on the morality/religion issues discussed here. It was a good discussion. This is why I like having a roommate.

And I made brunch. That was productive. And I did the dishes and finished cleaning up 1/4th of the dining room edges. So, considering the whole still being sick thing, that was pretty good.

Although, wait. Is this an elaborate April Fools' joke where everybody else is just *talking* about how productive they've been in an effort to shame me into actually doing some housework, and I'm actually the only one suckered in and you all are going to laugh at me about it later 'cause I fell for it?

Are you laughing at me now?

I bet you are.

Ha. There's this paper (40% of grade), and the final (40%). That's all the work that's being turned in. Plus attendence and class participation and that kind of shit.

Ooh, Leise, I wish. I mean, not that I'm currently being productive myself, but I had a decent couple of hours there.

Oof! I hate that shit. But still -- if you have good attendance and participation and whatnot, you can expect your grade in the class to be a level higher than your grades on the papers, right? I still say making yourself crazy is no way to go through grad school.

What do they call the guy who graduated bottom of his class from the worst med school in the country?

DOCTOR.
