"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ari Fleischman doesn't even rate?

Heh!

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Okay, wait, on that tools list, the lever doesn't rate? I think knife, scythe and needle can all go into the "sharp cutty objects" category, and leave some space for the effing lever, don't you?

Moves mountains, you know?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Gutenberg doesn't even rate?

Yeah, if you're going to call the telescope a tool, then the printing press ought to be on there. It also seems to me that having both the knife and the sword on the list is akin to having a hammer and a bigger hammer as separate tools.

Also, what Nutty said. Also, is there no love for the pulley?

So what does it do to kids? Cancer? Immolation? What?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Owen's WAY over the daily recommended allowance of teevee.

Better watch out for the spontaneous combustion!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The tool list was very arguable. However...

New York - Forbes.com readers, editors and a panel of experts rank the scythe as the sixth most important tool of all time, in terms of its impact on human civilization. ( Read more about how we developed the rankings.)

To modern eyes, the scythe may be best known from images of the Grim Reaper and Father Time--or as a weapon used by Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

My dad has a scythe. Scything is fun!

Gunn had a scythe. Maybe his dad is Gunn.
