I want floam just because it sounds so exactly like a product out of Futurama.

I would keep it on a shelf in the fridge right next to my 6-pack of Slurm.
Hm. I think I can get aerogel. But I really want Zubbles.
Aerogel is (I think) almost as light as air. I'm wondering if it's possible to create an aerogel-like substance that has no air molecules spaced in between its atoms. And if that's possible, would it be lighter than air?
If that were the case, it would have to be disposed of carefully. If you dropped it outside, it would just float up to, say, 10,000 feet altitude and stay there. Or until it "washed ashore" on a mountain. Or got hit by a plane.
Then there'd be a new job: LtA (Lighter than Air) Aerogel Waste Disposal. You'd fly around in a Zeppelin armed with a big net, as you went about rounding up floating clumps of LtA aerogel before they got hit by some plane....
I have no idea what any of this means, but I have held aerogel in my tiny fist, and it is supercool
The lowest density solid, 7x10 2
• The smallest pore size, ~ 50 nm
• The highest porosity, >99.9 %
• The lowest thermal conductivity, 1100 m 2 /g
• Low tensile strength, 1 x 10 13 m 2
I am an aerogel BNF.
Things I like to say:
Zubbles
Tagliabue

Sometime back I posted a link to where you could buy the stuff. I think it was about $70 for a small piece.
