Kaylee: So how many fell madly in love with you and wanted to take you away from all this? Inara: Just the one. I think I'm slipping.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

You mean others use bubbler? I thought that was just a Wisconsin thing! Cool.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

In Madison, there's a network of ATMs called Tyme. So people just used the word 'Tyme' (pronounced 'time') instead of ATM.

I discovered upon moving to Minnesota that people look at you strange when you say, "Do you know where the nearest time machine is?"

Hee, yup. It stands for "Take Your Money Everywhere." I still use that term every now and then without thinking.

There's a blog I read that has a feature called Friday Cephalopod

It's nice to know that I can rely on having a new picture of cephalopods every Friday....

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Hah! That never even occurred to me. Maybe I'm just used to getting strange looks.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oof -- I'm loving the US State Department even more right now for getting me my passport in time. One of my classmates, a Pakistani national, hasn't gotten her visa yet. The email that was accidentally replied-all told her "escanear" her passport and email it somewhere, which made me smile. (The rest of the email was in English.)

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Can I stay home today?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Friday Cephalopod

I am now earwormed with "Little Shop of Cephalopods" (which was a backstage joke on my sister's high school production of Little Shop -- somehow it made its way into my brain and I now cannot hear the word cephalopod without automatically thinking "Honey, you can't get no seahorse on squid row!")
