Herding cats for fun

It's funny, I was thinking about the value of the 3x5 method the other day. I think it would be helpful for assembling all the thoughts in a logical order.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

It's also my dad's birthday!

One of the first birthdates I was actually able to make stick in my head.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Crap. I have to check something for an employee on a client's database, but I forgot the employee's name. All I remember is that his last name is a very common Hispanic name. (Not Gonzales.) Once I get the last name I'll be able to figure out the first name.

Any ideas?

eta: Never mind. It's Hernandez.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

For his dissertation, Bob reads books and types the relevant quotes into Word. He moves the quotes around in another Word doc after that. I've suggested (though he likes the idea, he never actually does this) printing out the quotes and taping them onto 3x5 cards. You could then lay them out to create a visual representation of the argument-- you could even take notes on the back of them.

the salad I am having for lunch (from home) is much less yummy than the salad I had last night (at home). This makes no sense as they are made from the exact same ingrediants. hhrrmmph.

information libertarian

Jesse, if you want to be high-tech, see if your school has a site license for EndNote, which is bibliographic software (basically computerized searchable notecards that download records from databases and library catalogs automagically). If they do you can generally download it to your own computer for free.

There's a similar online product called RefWorks, which allows you a free 30-day trial before you have to fork over cash (not sure when your thesis is due!) [link]
