And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Ha -- you're probably right!

Our wings are not tired.

Don't watch 24, and yet I read the whitefont. sumi has a good point there.

"Hole in heart" condition linked to migraines:

A hole in the heart, known technically as a patent foramen ovale (PFO), is a minor defect in the wall that separates the two upper chambers of the heart, the atria.

In most cases it causes no health problems, but can, in a small minority of people, lead to a stroke.

It is also thought that failure completely to filter the blood of impurities in the normal way may result in migraines.

Several who had the heart problem fixed, also found their migraines got better.

The latest study screened 432 migraine with aura patients, and found 24% had a moderate or large PFO - six times greater than the number found in the general population.

Six months after surgery to repair the defect, patients reported a 37% reduction in migraine burden - calculated by multiplying the number of headaches by their length.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

If one wanted to download last night's GA, where would one find it?

Allegedly?

In class tonight, I got to tell my story about the board of directors where they went for diversity by looking for middle-aged white guys who DIDN'T work in finance.

The field I work in is heavily white middle aged male. Nature of the beast, the field waits for die offs and that demo is heavily repped. There is a fair effort of white female, but unless you are italian, there ain't much minority rep. And yet, they try to pretend otherwise. @@

Got a call from former coworker and friend. Basically, about how to research. I got more umph from providing her resources than I do my job. Problem, no? But it was fun. And? I should go visit her.

Okay, I haven't been able to watch 24 in a couple of weeks. Leland Palmer as vice president? Scarier than Dick Cheney.

ETA: I suppose that should be whitefonted.

move out and draw fire

Apparently the joke fell flat, but I cracked up at home.

I'm guessing most of the live audience didn't think it was a joke.

Hivemind question, lori, anyone? How is elevation measured on planets with no sea level? (Yes, I'm playing with Google Mars, why?)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

They just pick some arbitrary elevation as the standard for "sea level"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I totally have a hole in my heart, but I thought it was just metaphorical.
