OMG, work. My minion almost lost it today. And I almost lost him. We went out for a smoke break at noonish (nobody had time for actual lunch break) and he kicked the big garbage can/ashtray so hard I practically jumped through the wall. He's like 6'8" and built, just so you can picture. Then we went back up and he emailed his wife to find out how much she would kill him if he just walked out. He was dead serious, it was a fucking near thing. I went to our VP and asked her to speak to a couple of other VPs and get them to lay the fuck off for a while - he's one of those super helpful guys, and everyone is in a frenzy right now, so every freaking department is pulling at him right now. Fucked up, and he was this close to walking out, and I was really having a hard time giving him reasons why not.
Now we've both had a shitload of beer on the company dime, and I'm home and he's at the hotel (a whole other issue - he has to be there at 5 tomorrow so he didn't get to go home) and man, I just hope he makes it through the weekend and doesn't do or say anything that will fuck him up.
I think I need another beer.
