Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Her wikipedia entry fails to convey the charm she must have to make the list.

Wait, no, Holden's not charming. It fails to convey the charm that would make you identify with her.

You must find an interview with Cleary. Ramona was very dear to me, and I love Cleary for creating her. She really speaks kid. That wiki is very... dry. Doesn't convey Ramonaness.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yeah, that wiki does not at all tell what Ramona's about.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

And didn't (a VERY young, pre Baron Munchausen) Sarah Polley play Ramona in a TV series? Or was that a different Ramona?

Here's a sample Ramona chapter. None of the parts that I remember as my favorite parts are in any of the sample chapters, but this one seems rather Ramona-ish. [link]

Another one, from a few books earlier: [link]

One of the highlights of my yut as a little girl living in Hilo, HA was when Beverly Cleary visited my school. She read a loud to us for an hour and gave us all signed books.
