Zoe: Nobody's saying that, sir. Wash: Yeah, we're pretty much just giving each other significant glances and laughing incessantly.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Has anyone ever read a book called Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini? I found a cheap copy of it on the bargain rack of Barnes and Noble today and it looked interesting, so I picked it up. Any good?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's the basis for the Errol Flynn movie of the same name, a classic swashbuckler.

Thanks, Hec. I've never seen the movie.

It's great! Though I prefer the Sea Hawk because the climactic duel in the surf.

Ann, that's a ferret.

They're both Errol Flynn on a ship, and therefore both worthy of watching. I first saw Captain Blood as part of a double feature with My Favorite Year.

Sabatini made a career of enjoyable literary swashbucklers. CB is certainly worthwhile if you have any taste for the genre.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

You know, I'm trying to stick to a budget, and I don't *need* this, strictly speaking, but I think you will all understand that this t-shirt needed to be mine.

I saw Connie Willis tonight! She read from her unfinished book. Yay, hearing something new. BOO, book that is still not done!! Sigh.

Somewhere in the comments section for that shirt, the designer lists all the authors who are on the shirt. I couldn't identify them all on my laptop screen (too small), but you bet that's the first thing I'm going to do when it lands on my doorstep.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Man, if that shirt weren't yellow...

You, however, will rock it.

I can't even say why I love this one so much, but oh, I do.
