I'll just jump in my time machine, go back to the twelfth century, and ask the vampires to postpone their ancient prophesy for a few days while you take in dinner and a show.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

(Diversion tactic)

So, guess who's read The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman? You know, the next book of his that isn't out yet?

It's gorgeous. And in some ways, a love note to Ray Bradbury.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

keeping such a hard line on the subject is not inspiring to a person to change her opinion.

Certainly never my intent.

I didn't make an ad hominem attack on Connie. I said, "that's freakin' ignorant." As in, "That statement is ignorant" or "that opinon is ignorant" (with added meaningless intensifier). I didn't say "you're ignorant."

You would have to not-know (be ignorant of) what Joyce was doing to call it gibberish. My wording was strong, as was hers.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

erika, I did read Moby Dick (unabridged at that). I, in general, hatehatehate abridged editions (and don't get me started on those Junior Classics books), but, seriously, Herman, no one but whalers needs that much detail, and, really, not even them. The infodump is just a slog.

eta: Jilli, I am intensely jealous.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I am also wicked good and fast at the Tweedle Beetle Battle from Fox in Socks.

You have my undying admiration. (I love the Tweedle Beetle Battle in the bottle in the puddle.)

Punishingly Intricate

So, guess who's read The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman? You know, the next book of his that isn't out yet?

Is it a novel?

So, guess who's read The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman? You know, the next book of his that isn't out yet?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

So, guess who's read The Graveyard Book

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

So I started reading this great book the other day! It was called One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. See, first there was one fish, and then there were two fish! There was also a red fish and a blue fish. I can't wait to see what other fish are in store. Has anyone else read this book? DON'T SPOIL ME.

I won't spoil you, but I will say that Dr. Seuss is an unadultered GENIUS whose brilliance and position at the pinnacle of literary accomplishment must NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER BE QUESTIONED and anyone who does is anti-intellectual, ignorant and probably a puppy-eating Republican Satanist.

I mean, have you read his other works? Cats don't wear hats, yet his use of such an unreal character is clearly an indictment of our consumerist culture and the fashion industry! Witness how the "fashionable" Cat wrecks and entire house!

And his superb use of "non-sensical" words obviously points to his undeniable GENIUS!

I DARE YOU TO DEFY ME! DARE YOU, I SAY!

I also enjoy the works of P.D. Eastman.

Always Anti-fascist!

Well, Simon has that as an issue as well, Debet. That kind of makes sense.

Yes, it would be a much better book if it were condensed into an action packed novella.
