Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I'm sure that's because of cumulative sales. I mean, your book did just come out.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yes, I'm hoping it will have legs. I'm really not that worried about sales so much as the relative lack of critcial response. (For which, incidentally, I need to thank you Corwood for your review.)

I think my expectations were probably weirdly set by the first two books I did which were more widely reviewed. You know? Bubblegum got a mention in ArtForum, and we did NPR on LitG.

A project to read all of the 33 1/3 books:

He'll get to me eventually!

Sorry to be buzzkill with my bitter sounding sense of writerly entitlement. It's not that. It's just working on something for two years you want a response; you want to know it finds an audience and people get it.

I have gotten reviewed at Popmatters and Under the Radar and several blogs, and the curious thing is that all of the reviews have been remarkably alike. Everybody gets it -- gets my structural choices and tone. Every single review has noted: well-researched, well written, funny and a good read.

Which is what I set out to create so that's good. It's not like I was planning a down payment on a Ferrari with this book. I just want readers.

Give 'em time, man. There's a certain degree of 33 1/3 oversaturation at this point.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

It's also an awesome book! On the inside, I mean.
