Vimes is my favoritest ever. I wanna be Vimes when I grow up.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Vimes couldn't do what he does without Vetinari, and Vetinari couldn't get away with what he does without Vimes. It's a perfect symbiotic relationship, and I love when the two of them give each other looks when Carrot is sermonizing about The Inherent Goodness of People.
My first Discworld was Witches Abroad, and then Night Watch.
I can't decide if Wyrd Sisters or Hogfather is my favorite Discworld. On the one hand, Macbeth influences. On the other, Death as the Hogfather.
I got a black faux-fur cape for Christmas from Joe's mom. I think I'ma turn it into part of a Susan costume for myself for Halloween and dress Joe up as Death.
There's a funny HP fic that takes place in the King's Cross for the Dead where Death is the station agent and directs people. Not even knowing Death any further than Hogfather, it makes for a funny read cause it works so well.
Also, a good friend of ours posted this in her LJ - a fund raiser for Alzheimer's: [link]
My cousin just sent me an invitation to Goodreads - are any of you on that?
I am, but I don't update my profile that often.
Nope, I'm on LibraryThing, though I haven't updated in forever and ever. That was one of the things I was all "Hey, as long as I'm unemployed, I can..." but haven't. Of course.
So I met with a publisher today and while the contract isn't signed or anything, it looks like I've got a new project.
I'll be doing A Journey Into the Beats' San Francisco for Roaring Forties Press.
The only bad part is that I have to finish it (40,000 words) by early September. Normally they'd give me a year but the original writer on the book had to bail for health reasons and they have pre-orders, and there's a lot of design/art/layout in this book and they have to have copies ready by the Big Book Expo next May.
On the plus side: getting paid to write and getting published.
Also, if I do a good job and hit the deadline I could probably have a shot at doing their San Francisco book for the Music Place series.
Oh, Hec, you're PERFECT for that. It's perfect for you. Yay!
Sounds exciting, Hecubus.
