Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

deLint

Oh I completely forgot about him! I scarfed down three of his books and then he totally slipped my mind. Ooh I can't wait 'til I find my next book.

Because books.

From the Bibliophil site, which has a list of the 100 Most Challenged Books of 1999-2000 -- how on earth is Maurice Sendak's In the Night Kitchen objectionable?

Reading a new YA novel by a new author -- Betwixt by Tara Bray Smith. I'm loving it so far.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

You mean other than the full frontal nudity?

It makes me terribly curious to see what's *wrong* with Halloween ABC, although it's probably just the normal witches! and vampires! and ghosts! oh my!

Thrive to spite them

The Night Kitchen has been challenged several times because the little boy in it is naked and you can see "everything". Since he's a little boy there's not much to see but it doesn't take much to get some people upset.

I will admit that it would seem that for some kids a book encouraging nudity may not be the wisest course of action, since they seemed to be determined nudists already (or at least try to take their clothes off any chance they get), but apart from that...craxy, I says.
