Time to slay. Vampires of the world beware!

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Woe to the fucking wicked.

sumi, I would choose specialists. A creatures person one year, a spells person another, etc, etc, so that, over 7 years, everyone would have learned from The Expert on each sub-topic.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

So in the HP-verse DADA profs are like Spinal Tap drummers?

Art Crawl!!!

Maybe he tried that and they wound up horribly dead and he didn't want to risk it. (Perhaps Lupin knew the risks when he took the job -- in fact I'm certain that both Mad-Eye and Lupin knew the risks because they're OotP members.)

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'm certain that both Mad-Eye and Lupin knew the risks because they're OotP members

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

the NYTimes review has taken just the teeniest edge off my zeal.

The NY Times review increased my zeal to get the book

Here's the quote that made me happy. I don't think it's spoilery, but I will white font and delete it if anyone else thinks it is:

With this volume, the reader realizes that small incidents and asides in earlier installments (hidden among a huge number of red herrings) create a breadcrumb trail of clues to the plot, that Ms. Rowling has fitted together the jigsaw-puzzle pieces of this long undertaking with Dickensian ingenuity and ardor.

Wow, if I was Rowling, I'd be inscribing that review in bronze and hanging it in the office. That's some heady company they're comparing her to.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset
