Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I just had to redo a video I made for students at work to show them how to upload documents from the iPad to Blackboard because I accidentally had files named Hockey RPF showing on my iCloud account. Before this, I feel like no one would have noticed.

Did you read Death in the Spires, Beverly?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Yes, yes, Death in the Spires, -t, and The Duke at Hazard, Copper Script, which bugs because it's Copper*plate* script, actually, All of us Murderers, and I preordered How to Fake it in Society. I need to give other authors a chance, I suppose, but her characters are just so delicious.

Good, good, just wanted to make sure you didn’t miss the Actual Murder Mystery (as opposed to Romance With Some Murders)

Audrey Lane won me over in the end. A nice wrap up for the trilogy. I would guess people who watch GBBO might like it more than I do

Speaking of murder mysteries and KJC, I just finished A Case of Life and Limb by Sally Smith and it is excellent. It’s the second in a series and I love the detective and the setting is interesting (1901 Inner Temple barristers) so I will be reading all of these as they come out from now on. I started it because KJC gave it a glowing review - I did mean to start with the first one but this one came available from the library first and I don’t feel like I’m missing vital backstory or anything

I quite enjoyed both Sally Smith mysteries. The setting is a fascinating character in its own right.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

So, I read Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, which...okay, so I didn't know it was a vampire book when I started it, and it took about 10% through to be pretty sure that's what we were doing here.

And maybe I'm just insufficiently familiar with the genre, but I can only read it as having a sticky note on the front from the author that says, "I read Interview with the Vampire and watched all of Buffy, and as a lesbian, I have some thoughts."

I'm not sure that I enjoyed it, per se, but I would very much like to read some literary analysis and join a discussion group, you know?

I had to return that to the library barely started, but it’s supposed to be available to me again soon. Hopefully soon enough that I will remember you had thoughts…

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Trigger warning for Wolf Worm by T Kingfisher which I have an advanced read copy of. There are a lot of bugs. A LOT. And it seems to be leaning into being one of her more dark horror tales, which I know is not to the taste of everyone here. I'm really loving it though.
