Well, we may not have parted on the best of terms. I realize certain words were exchanged. Also, certain... bullets. But that's air through the engine. It's past. We're business people.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

If you do decide Ancillary is not for you, maybe give The Raven Tower a try, that is my actual favorite Ann Leckie

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

If you bounced off of Ancillary Justice, you may find Three Body Problem a similar challenge. I listened to them both on audio, which helped get me through the dense sci-fi politics. I have a feeling if I'd been reading with my eyeballs I would have skimmed too much and missed important things.

Thrive to spite them

I liked Ancillary Justice series but somehow I got through the first book and didn't realize the gender issues until part way through the second and had to go back and reread it

Because books.

Different type of book, but The Change by Kirsten Miller is so far a lot of fun. Three women undergoing the change, as expected, with very unexpected results.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I enjoyed that.

That sounds good, and my library has it immediately available. Big score because I have maxed out my holds…

OK! I have added several books to my hold list at the library from just a brief scroll-back here, thank you all very much. I also added three from roaming two bookstores with my aunt today (visiting her at the beach).

I just picked up The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, The Crying of Lot 49, Watership Down (a weird, gaping hole in my history), and a Robertson Davies, because I love him and haven't read him in years. Yay, books. I still have The Three Body Problem, and so far, so good.

I think the rest will take a while to come in. I hope.

Ooh, good choices.

I’m reading Asunder by Kerstin Hall, I’m not sure why I picked it up but I think it’s up for a Hugo. I’m 75% through it and it’s very good so far
