We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know...insane.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I watched part of season 1 before reading any books, and then read all the books as fast as possible and watched the show as it came out. I might actually have an outstanding short story that if I don't read it it isn't over. They are both great, the show is an excellent adaptation.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I watched the show and then read all the books. I think the show is excellent. Except for the occasional presence of Thomas Jane.

Always Anti-fascist!

Get Alexei Navalny's book. It's awesome.

Thanks, all. I think I will side-car the show with the books now. Why not?

Since I did watch a lot of S1, I picture Holden, Amos, Alex, Naomi, and Avasalara (I love this actor so much), and Miller as the actors who portrayed them. But, like, Bobbi and Prax from Caliban, I just have my own mind's creation. It'll be interesting to see how they compare... assuming mostly the same characters are in both.

Oh my god, Bobbi is amazing.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

BOBBI DRAPER (Expanse edition), OMG. Love her so much.

I thought the show started out okay and then got really excellent. (And then kind of ended weird because it was only 6 seasons of a 9-book series.)

All of this. Also, it was heartbreaking to try to explain to the people watching the series with me that there was so much more left unsaid and knowing they were never going to read it.

I may have to read the series again to complete the circle of read/watched/read.

eta: I just looked and Hoopla has the audiobooks. Now on my list as I Hoopla in the car.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Hi! If you, like me, are always happy to get your mitts on a bunch of Le Guin novels without wrecking your budget, here you go.

The complete Earthsea and Annals of the Western Shore series are there. With the exceptions of The Dispossessed and The Telling, the Hainish Cycle is not included, so you'll have to track down The Left Hand of Darkness and the rest elsewhere.

I'm listening to The Great Transition which is fantastic - incredibly well written and narrated -- but deeply deeply unsettling in the way good near-future sci-fi books tend to be. Highly recommended for people who wanted New York 2140 to be good. The characters here are SO fully realized and I just want to hug them both so hard.

The climate-related world building is so good I can't tell yet if I'm hoping this book comes true or praying it won't (it's probably both).
