Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! Oh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I definitely like how alien the aliens are.

Have you ever read Startide Rising by David Brin?

In the sequel -- The Uplift War -- the aliens are ever weirder. I really enjoyed those stories, I should re-read them again.

I listened to Sundiver a few weeks ago, which was the first of the Uplift series. I enjoyed the alieness of the aliens. Brin is pretty clunky with the love interest parts, but, eh, whatever. Or, was in this one anyway. But I think I liked it enough to continue.

I read Sundiver out of order, didn’t like it as well, don’t remember why.

Then there is a second trilogy, also weird but fun.

I actually just downloaded Startide Rising after reading your.post. Sundiver was a bit of a slog at parts, but overall a cool conceit, I thought. Looking forward to this one. Also, it was free!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I read those a million years ago and don’t remember much, although I do know I liked the series. Making a note to myself to revisit

Eta: ooh, free is good! Add to library!

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I have started re-reading Anne Rice so that's gonna keep me busy for a while (I haven't decided how far I want to go, I stopped with The Body Thief or Memnoch the Devil (I honestly can not figure out if I read Memnoch the Devil or not) the first time around but I'm kind of intrigued by Atlantis)

Atlantis is A Thing. A very weird thing. But hey, it gave me the habit of saying "SPAAAAAAAAACE BIIIIIIIIIIRBS!" at random, which I think is hilarious.

"Somewhere in this building is our talent." Toby Ziegler, my spirit animal

Almost done with this book and really loving it unless the final chapter is a complete disaster. "Funny You Should Ask" [link]

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.
