Though I enjoyed Witness for the Dead, I was thinking the same thing, Todd.
Though I will admit to being pleased when I realized from the Goodreads listing that she intended Witness to start a series.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Sweet! I would like more Maia but I do enjoy Celehar a lot
Yay another book, but yeah. Guess I’ll have to hope someone goes overboard on their Yuletide story this year, or something, for Maia!
Oh, that’s a good thought
I did read a very good Maia AU on AO3...
(That I unfortunately didn't realize was unfinished when I started it...)

My favorite characters other than the Roci crew are ALWAYS the ones who can't stand Holden.
Once the last season comes out, I need to dive into those books.
I think I’m going to reread them all before too long. Not being able to remember the details of what happened in the previous 8 is not hampering my enjoyment of this book, but I’m appreciating its literary merit more than I expected and want to revisit past books from that standpoint and also think I would like to meet these characters again knowing where they are going.
Assuming I don’t get to the end and want to burn the universe down, which I don’t think will happen but is always a possibility

Ha! Never any shortage of those
