erika, please remind us when we can pre-order, because I definitely want to and I know I will forget. I like the sound of the anthology, good title!
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
The first book in a new fantasy series by Ann Leckie is on sale on Amazon. I didn't even try to resist.
Oh, The Raven Tower! I read that last year before the pandemic and I recall enjoying it quite a lot.
I love The Raven Tower so much! SO MUCH. That's an excellent price. I didn't know it was going to be a series, that's very exciting!
One of the Smart Bitches recommendations I enjoyed was Spoiler Alert. It seemed a very Buffista sort of book (romance-y) - he's the star of a fairly long-running TV show (Game of Thrones type), she's a big fan. Both have a good deal of baggage - he's dyslexic (his parents are teachers and assumed he didn't learn because he was lazy), she's fat (and her parents HATE fat). Both write fanfic. They meet, fall for each other, have misunderstandings, but come together in the end. And it's $1.99 for the e-book.
For $1.99 I can give that a try. Some time after Bleak House. I'm very proud of myself for starting Bleak House - I find Dickens intimidating and for quite a while I just looked at it out of the corner of my eye and thought "not yet" and then I read the Preface and had to put it away for another week or so but I am in Chapter 3 today so I think this time it's really happening.
Keep getting earwormed with the tune of Brick House.
Todd son, I bought that last week. I’m glad to hear it’s good.
If anyone has finished Witness for the Dead (the Goblin Emperor sequel) and wants to discuss it, I need to talks about it with someone.
And it's a Bleak. House.
Lawsuits and lawyers, just letting it all hang out.
Yes it's a Bleak. House. [spoilers coming]
Nothing left over, the bequest is all tapped out.
Jarndyce v. Jarndyce ... and yup. There was a TV version that had Gillian Anderson as Lady ... whatever. An older one that had Diana Rigg in the same role.
The thing about Bleak House is it looks intimidating, but it's just a soap opera. In my experience, it also benefits from breaks -- it was originally a serial, after all.
