This is not funny. This... this is a morality tale about the evils of sake.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I learned to avoid the T. Kingfisher horror stories - read one and it seriously scared me; I was glad I was reading it during the day rather than at night. I do, however, love her other work, so I'll keep buying those.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Please do, hippocampus! And, of course, I will eagerly await July

not your mom's socks.

Now this sounds more up my alley than baseball...
I do these things for you all .... (also it was a lot of fun to write)

Another heads up is a Goblin Market meets high fashion during New York's social season story coming out next month in Uncanny...

not your mom's socks.

IN other News, not about me: help my reading is going too slowly. I think I broke myself by reading The Obsession, which was recommended bc I'm looking for a romance/thriller for the syllabus and that is NOT what we will be using. Who's got recs.

For Murderbot fans, there's a short piece called Home online. I'm not reading the series, but I understand it falls between Exit Strategy and Network Effect.

In the end it's only ever been one step, and then the next.

I like the aesthetic of both cottagecore and dark academia. But I’d like them to come with WiFi.

Not a router, but may I suggest this really spendy speaker?

Murderbot! {runs off to read}

Sweet, sweet Murderbot. I was supposed to be finishing up my reread to be ready for the next book about now. Oops.

You’re looking for a romance/thriller? Any more details about requirements? More romance or more thriller? How romance-y? Like would Victoria Dahl’s Jane Doe be romancey enough? Or needs more actual love?

I'm looking for a romance/thriller

Have you read any from the Lee/Miller Liaden universe? I got hooked long ago by Agent of Change and have stuck with them since, although sometimes they veer further into romance than I've liked.

Hah, I love those but wouldn’t have called any of them thrillers!
