Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"
I think the only things she wrote under her own name - Barbara Mertz - were serious Egyptology books (she had a Ph.D. in the subject). I have one. FYI, the Barbara Michaels books often have a supernatural element - ghosts, hauntings, etc. The Peters books less so (why, yes, I've read just about everything she wrote).

I read all the Peters books back in the day - many of them are comfort reads still - but found the Michaels books a little too gothic-y and not as humorous. I probably need to try them again. Lord knows, I need some comfort reading.

I really liked some Michaels books and didn’t care for others, took against Vicky Bliss, never got into Jacqueline Kirby and drifted away from Amelia Peabody at some point in that series. Maybe I should give them another chance as my taste certainly has not remained stagnant. We’ll see how this rabbit book goes.

I burned out on the Amelia Peabody books before too long. I still sometimes re-read the books (I got rid of a LOT of them before I moved). I still remember once - years ago - she was doing a reading at a local book store. She was running late and came zipping in dressed in early 20th Century archaeologist gear - long khaki skirt, white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a pith helmet with a long veil.

I drifted away from Amelia at one point, but during my last re-read I ended up enjoying all of them but the last - the one co-written after her death. Really awful. In the later Amelia's Ramses and David get involved in colonial Egyptian politics about which I knew nothing. I liked that.
I liked Vicky and John and use of lost treasures for plots - I really wish the Amber Room could be found - but it got a little tired before the final one. I also like Jacqueline, but then I'm a librarian as well.
