Thanks for that, epic! I liked Proposal more than Wedding Date too. The funny thing about her books is that they sound exactly like her. After her first book came out, we were having dinner and she was nervous about whether the second book would be as well-received and I was like, "of course it will be, because they're like having a conversation with you!"
Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
Hah, whereas I think wedding date (which I just reread) is still my fave of hers. It just feels like real people.
I've been doing a Hugos read, and just read Light Brigade. Anyone else read it? I enjoyed it, though the ending wasn't as satisfying as I would have liked. Would still recommend.
I loved The Stars Are Legion but I haven't been able to get into any of Hurley's other work. It's too dense and something for my brain.
meara, I had a crush on Carlos in the first book, and also the second book has baseball! 😂
I respect Hurley but I find her worlds too brutal for me.
Her collection of nonfiction collection The Geek Feminist Revolution is excellent.
New Penric novella came out 5/7 in case I'm not the only one who didn't know...
Meep! Thank you, -t!
Alexis Hall's The Affair of the Mysterious Letter
Cashmere, thank you SO MUCH for mentioning this book. It was utterly fabulous. It was like Fallen London had come to Sherlock Holmes.
I was picturing either Skyler Cooper or Brian Michael Smith as Wyndham, and Shohreh Aghdashloo was really my only choice as Shaharazad, even though she might be a bit out of the age range.
