Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I read Swordheart this week too! I really enjoyed it, although I kept expecting it to end sooner than it did. Which I think means there's a problem with the pacing. All that said, it's quite amusing. And I definitely intend to read the next 2 in that series.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Rivers of London - the law offices of Bock, Loupe and Stag, that's an homage, I suppose?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sort of a book question -- this book looks so cool!

She was black and a woman and a prosecutor, a graduate of Smith College and the granddaughter of slaves, as dazzlingly unlikely a combination as one could imagine in New York of the 1930s—and without the strategy she devised, Lucky Luciano, the most powerful Mafia boss in history, would never have been convicted.

But the question is, is it too *something* to get for my cousin who is a lawyer (not that kind of lawyer) and has a black husband (she is white)?

Also, if anyone would like to make book recommendations for my other relatives, I would greatly appreciate it! Still in the mix are a boy graduating from college this year, my diplomat cousin-in-law, and two kindergarten-ish girls.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

For the kindergarten girls the Princess in Black series.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Jesse, I don't know if that book is too too for your cousin, but it looks fascinating.
