Ha! I think I am just a private person who doesn't want 50,000 strangers watching what to me is an intimate moment. I guess if someone proposed to me in Florida at the Marlins' ballpark I'd be okay (hahah inside baseball people joke).

I also loathe the kiss cam. Ewwwwwww. I usually am able to time my beer purchases to occur at that time.

Psssst it's Carlos who helps the girl out of her predicament. I crushed hard on Carlos in The Wedding Date.

The mysteries list has a few Ellis Peters standalones, and I always love her. Make sure to click continue at the bottom of the first page. There's also some Patricia Wentworth, if you like generally relaxing mysteries in mid-century England.

The fantasy list has some Barbara Hambly, including Bride of the Rat God, which is a fun standalone that takes place in the early days of Hollywood in the 1920s; and the two sequels to Sorcery and Cecelia by Patricia Wrede.

I'm on page 4 of the mysteries one and I have no idea where the end is.

Did you guys know that Pearl S. Buck has a short story called "The Golden Bowl"?

I didn't - was quite confused when our catalog didn't recognize the serial number for the James novel but when I did a title search pulled up a collection of Buck's stories.

Why was the James not recognized? I guess that it was a "long overdue" book that somehow just got reshelved.

I finally (finally!) read The Dream-Quest of Vellitt Boe by Kij Johnson. Only a year and a half after Mr. Loomy gave it to me for Christmas, as he reminded me. On the one hand, I love Kij's writing. On the other hand, I am not enough of a Lovecraft geek to catch half of the references.

I am LOLing at the preliminary response by the defendants in the Cockygate...situation. Selected excerpts:

Indeed, contrary to Plaintiffs' unsupported allegations that Ms. Watson "played a key role in a juggernaut attack on [Plaintiffs'] trademarks, books and person, Ms. Watson played no role whatsoever in the conception, creation, authorship, decision to publish, or publication of The Cocktales Anthology and otherwise lacks any authority to halt or impact its publication.

Cocky is a commonly used term in the titles of romance novels, in part because of its double entendre as a sexual innuendo that references part of the male anatomy and a synonym for being arrogant or a "bad boy" – both of which are relevant themes in these types of stories.

Cocktales, too, exceeds the low threshold of artistic relevance, as does the use of "the Cocky Collective" to refer to the forty author-contributors and the wording "authors who take cockiness to a whole new level" on the cover.

It should be noted that Cocktales currently sits at #25 on the USA Today Best Selling Books List.

Hil or Fay (can't remember which) linked to a book written because of "Cockygate" called "His Cocky Valet", which was pretty good for being written in a couple days.

I know Courtney Milan (love her books!) is a lawyer in real life under her real name. And Kevin Kneupper has been doing a lawsuit (pro bono). I bought one of his books on the strength of this suit.
