That's not what making out sounds like -- unless I'm doing it wrong?

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I liked them. I would agree with you on the best one.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Hi KatieBee! Nice to see you around these parts!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The Great Brain books are the reason I thought gentile meant non-Mormon, right? Good times.

information libertarian

My son read The Great Brain books recently, and I reread the first one. They hold up ok. They were written in a past setting anyway. Yes, Mercer Mayer was the illustrator.

brillig

the reason I thought gentile meant non-Mormon,

It does--in Mormon country. Standard figure of speech amongst The Brethren.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Was Mercer Mayer the illustrator?

Yes!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Did anyone enjoy the Great Brain books? I re read those awhile back and they were quite dated, but not all that bad as far as offending my sensibilities today. Was Mercer Mayer the illustrator? My favorite was always the book about the little brother "Me and My Little Brain."

Loved the Great Brain books, including the mostly forgotten Great Bain at the Academy which was one of my first introductions to the Boarding School genre.
