Zoe: Don't think it's a good spot, sir. She still has the advantage over us. Mal: Everyone always does. That's what makes us special.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I've read both in that series,Jesse. I liked them a lot. the first one was a little slow -butI might sometimes be impatient. the second one I go as a goodreads giveaway

I second flea's recommendation of Joanna Bourne. The books are set during the French revolution and Napoleanic era. While they are stand-alones with interconnected characters, it is best to start with =The Forbidden Rose=.

If your library does Overdrive, the books are available there.

Don't bother with =Her Ladyship's Companion= unless you're a real completist.

Aw, I totes love Her Ladyship's Companion, but it is, uh, of its time (1983), with the bruising kisses and all. The one I have trouble with is My Lord and Spymaster, because the 'hero' is such an asshole.

Of it's time, yes. I really like the heroine in ML&S, so I tend to give Sebastian a pass. The villain is all too predictable, however.

Sorry to anyone who was confused, it seems I had an old GoodReads account that had no entries and then the one where I have books. I just closed the old account.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I can also recommend Deanna Raybourn. I like her Lady Julia Gray series, especially the first three or four - I thought the quality dropped off a bit in the later books. And I've read the first of her new series - A Curious Beginning - which I liked, but not as much as the other series. And she has several set in the 1920s which are good, but not among my favorites.
