We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

I got $58.47 which was a happy surprise! I already spent a big chunk of it. But not on books though. (I already have waaaay too much to read!)

Speaking of Hamilton, I gave the CD and the Hamitome to my best friend (she lives in Hamilton, OH and hadn't heard of it!) She's an addict now.

I also gave the CD and the Hamilton Biography to my dad for father's day. I warned him that he might not like the musical, but he actually likes it! (Not loves, but he finds it interesting.)

So, yay me!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I love the "cut pages" effect on the Hamiltome. I also like the 18th century style chapter headers.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Have any of you read The Madwoman Upstairs by Catherine Lowell? It's excellent. Just surprising and smart and funny.

It's been showing up in my recommendations.

Because books.

Yeah, I Googled and it looks like exactly my thing.

Thrive to spite them

One of the negative reviews for the Hamiltome I read was a complaint about the edges being ragged and not liking getting a damaged book. Feature it's a feature person.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Amy and aurelia, it's really enjoyable. I picked it up from the library because the there was a blurb by Deborah Harkness. Then when I was returning another book, there was another book with a Deborah Harkness blurb so I picked that one up too. I want Deborah Harkness to recommend books to me from now on.

Because books.

I still have to read her books, actually.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

When I worked in a bookstore, we used to get returns All. The. Time. from people bitching that books with deckled edges were "damaged".

I mean, whatever, if it's within the return period and you have the receipt. But "idiot" is in your file forever now.
